Armed Protesters Showed Up to a Texas Church’s Drag Bingo Event

It was one of many drag-related events to have been met by protests in the last few months.

This past Saturday, First Christian Church (FCC) in Katy, Texas, a city just outside of Houston, held an all-ages drag bingo event to raise money for its free clothing boutique for trans youth. But the event was mobbed by hundreds of protestors, some heavily armed and some raising their hands in Nazi salutes, in the latest incident amid the national right-wing war on drag performers and trans youth.

In an appearance on Steve Bannon’s online program War Room, Sherronna Bishop of the “parent’s rights” group America’s Mom shared details of the event, saying that this was a “spiritual battle.” She also said that the protestors were wrestling with a “demonic stronghold” that is attempting to take over rural areas.
